NATIONAL OBSERVATORY OF ATHENS (E10208288 – Greece)
The National Observatory of Athens (NOA), established in 1842, is the oldest research centre in Greece and a public entity, supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology. The Institute for Environmental Research and Sustainable Development (IERSD) is one of three Institutes of NOA, and it was established in 1846. The main activities of IERSD focus on: (a) meteorology and hydrology (operational weather forecasts, meteorological and hydrological observations and modelling with emphasis on extreme hydrometeorological events and the study of surface and
underground water bodies), (b) the atmospheric environment (investigation of physico-chemical processes in the atmosphere based on observations and models, air quality and other environmental pressure studies), (c) climate and climate change (studies of the past, current and future climate trends and extremes, on the assessment of the environmental, financial and social impacts of climate change and on adaptation and mitigation measures) and (d) energy (building typologies, energy efficiency, solar energy resources, energy modeling and planning. ASPETE – SCHOOL OF PEDAGOGICAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL EDUCATION
ASPETE(https://www.aspete.gr/en/home/) is a tertiary –Higher Education Institute. Students attend the 5-year cycle of studies and gain a diploma both as engineers and as engineering educators(see http://files.aspete.gr/aspete/brief%20guide/A%20Brief%20Guide%20to%20ASPETE%202015-16.pdf)
ASPETE offers for many years courses leading to the Pedagogical Certificate for many disciplines as training programs (https://eppaikpesyp.aspete.gr/).
The essential character of ASPETE is the integration of engineering with pedagogy through the 5 years of undergraduate studies.
Members of the personnel included in the proposal have the technical as well as the pedagogical capacity to develop education scenario that follow the interdisciplinary STEAM content epistemological approach, containing the development of physical computing artifacts related to artificial and augmented reality.
In ASPETE the Lab “Educational Applications of Computational Sciences and Educational Technology Laboratory” is working on STEAM epistemology and applications in physical computing, AR and VR applications.ECSET.LAB (Government Gazette 2920, 17-7-2020) serves the STEAM Education(https://edu.aspete.gr/en/educational-applications-of-computational-sciences-and-educational-technology-laboratory/).
